Why do we write? Why don’t we write?
For me writing is like exercising my brain, stretching my imagination, and keeping my focus. When I grew up I was told that “readers were leaders” and read I did. Countless books, comics, and magazines formed my consciousness and soul. Reading Sherlock Holmes increased my awareness around me, my ability to focus, to make deductions and plot ahead. Reading the Bible developed my spirit, my ability to grow and to love. Then I discovered the 1930’s, Philip Marlowe, Sam Spade, The Shadow, and The Spider. Murder, blackmail, and mayhem at its best. Then the 50’s, Mike Hammer, Shell Scott, and the Peter Gunn TV series with women so hot they could melt your ice cubes at fifty feet.
Next were the heroes, Doc Savage, Superman, and my favorite, The Batman. To be like a bat? Hmmmmm! Let’s not digress. We live in a world that has thrown away the past, the best is being forgotten. Through Nick Stihl P.I. I bring back the past, the fast action violence, the music, the great characters, and corny fun humor. The great dialogue and sayings that are no more. Rediscover the yesterworld and enjoy things that should always be remembered.
Now to the future! We have to grow, or we shrink and rot. Read the super-adventures of border agent Shell Scott. Read about the near future of our country, our world. Scott Lund is the leader of tomorrow, of hope, of a positive future. Something I hope we all want. Men want to be like Scott Lund, women want to be with him, and children look up to him. Meet Scott and his amazing family, his brother Steven, a forest ranger with his wife Dr. Lorelei, a exotic animal veterinarian. Their amazing children, Zac and Zoe; young martial artists with can-do attitudes.
It’s great to create worlds and characters, heroes that overcome and fight the most fiendish villains. To use your own ability, concentrate and figure out insane situations, plots and death traps and make them believable. To tell stories that make sense.
I write because I want to, and I like it!
